We have moved onto flash which is cool because it is a program i have always wanted to use but never had the chance.

We have Devin now he is a really cool guy that is much more laid back and approachable.

Our coursework is to create a movie poster an interactive movie poster using flash 8, i picked the film Fight Club as its a favourite of mine…. Should be fun.

Test December 8, 2007

Had the test and it went suprisingly well, i really do hope i pass. I went round lukes the night before and steve was there, we got down to some serious revision and it paid off. They showed me how to do this maths kinda thing and i practised it loads and it didn’t even come up. Some questions i think i got right where about images, memory, and networking.

It seemed very similar to the practise test we had which helped alot as i used it to revise with.

Illustrator November 14, 2007

Now we’ve moved on to illustrator, so far i think this is my favourite part of the course as it it seems to be purely media production.

I have used illustrator before but not properly like for illustrations i have just used it do do things with text. So moussabs lectures should be interesting.

Artefact Done! March 18, 2007

banksy-artifact.gifartefact3.JPGartefact1.JPGI put up my stencil earlier this morning, the weather hasn’t been on my side for this lately and today wasn’t any different. Howling winds and sunny spells with showers isn’t exactly ideal at all, not for the beach. I had it in my mind to put it up the stencil on a beach rock, prefeably a flat one in the Wembury area. I couldnt think of any places that had a vertical wall on the beach apart from Bournemouth pier, but thats abit far really. So i drove around looking for places i ended up in a little cove in the Bovisands area. The stencil went fairly well but i did have a few problems. It was very windy, so it proved quite hard by myself. So i got on to the beach found a rock and tapped my stencil onto with strong tape to try and assure it would be as clean as possible. I am pleased with my end result but i feel i could have acheived a better stencil without the windy conditions, as it made the paint run slightly along the bottom.  I think the stencil would have looked more effective if it was on a black wall which was flat, but i’ve never done a stencil before this- so i’ve definatly learnt alot about the techniques of making them, and also effective/perfect banksy stencils are in the speedy time he puts them up.

Was lucky i left when i did as i just missed a group of about 40 students on a trip or something. Check out my photos.

Interstices continued… March 17, 2007

nanotech.jpgWe met up and i reseached while luke designed a magazine cover and suzie made the news page. I looked into surgery using nano technology and also looked into grey goo. I tried to find relevent case studies on the internet, it was hards to find but after searching though endless sites i think i found some useful information. Check out the final outcomes.

Mapping complete March 15, 2007

Finished the mapping project was really fun to do, I think it turned out really well in the end the shoot out scene that we referenced it to was from the film, Face-Off. I like i think the lines look good from the guns and im generally pleasd. Here’s the link.  http://www.zshare.net/flash/shootout-swf.html

Shoot Out March 14, 2007

We filmed our shoot out today, and i think it went well. We decided on the back up plan of using a room at Luke’s house. We tried to making the setting all white so we could trace the direction which the bb’s easier. So not thats done we are going to capture the footage onto the computer and import it into flash. Then we will try and do the bullet trajectorys to map the bullets movement/ paths. Here is a link to the footage.  http://www.blip.tv/file/169713

Interstices March 13, 2007

This is the new project which i am doing, it is a group project done in pairs. I am in a three though with Luke and Suzie becasue we were in a three rather than a four for the mapping project.

We are doing nanorobotics- which is very interesting. We are going to do it in a magazine spread and a news article for the BBC website using the same layout and design. We are particully looking into how this can be used for health like surgery, and the dangers this could lead to if we are not educated enought about the issue. Some scientist think that in twenty years it could be an ordinary way of surgery and that it the technology could be used for things such as beating cancer cells.

Stencil Progress March 13, 2007

stencil-ready-to-go.JPGBeen working on my stencil today got my spray paint, and im all ready to do this tomorrow morning. Took ages to cut out, the main reason being equiptment- i was using a pretty blunt kitchen knife to cut through a thicvk carboard box!Even know im using spray paint which will wash off- which wasn’t easy to find may i add. I am going to leave here at 6 o’clock and head for a beach in the Wembury area, I’m hoping there won’t be many people about at this time. I’m going by myself too which wont help, oh yeah the weather is abit rubbish too.

Here is a picture of the stencil all cut out and layed down on the carpet, I am pleased with it and hope tomorrow (well today now) works out well, check it out!

Artefact March 10, 2007

making-artefact.JPGThis involves picking a piece of art work and copying it really. I decided to pick Banksy, the main reason being a had his book which meant easy access and i also find his work very interesting and inspiring . I researched into his work and just basically carefully looked through my book and on the internet to find an appropriate stencil for me to do. At first i wanted to do one of his rats, but after a while of considering the idea i decided that perhaps it would be a better idea to do one of his stencils that is less noticed and less famous. It was a tough decision between two beach ones, due to my location i thought it would be a good one to pick. You can see the one i picked in the link.

I started making it today-Its going well, just waiting for a good day and location to put it up, need to find a beach with a wall.

Its A3 in size and the picture shows the image that i scanned in, enlarged on photoshop, printed out and stuck down onto a cardboard box.

The next step is too cut the image out carefully. I will keep posted on my progress.
